If I've said it once, I'll say it... one more time: I am technologically illiterate. Yes! I have a trak phone, I do not twitter, this blog is HARD for me. You notice pictures are far and few.
But is it wrong that I give a little victory dance to the fact that my kids can do ANYTHING without technology? When I can go to the dr. without my kindle, or take a car ride without a movie player. When my kids ask me to play outside rather than computer time... these things are the things that make me happy.
I'm not saying I don't appreciate those things... I wouldn't have a kindle or a portable dvd player if I didn't like them, but sometimes I just want my kids to show a little more than "boredom".
I mean, Darn society teaching us to say, "well when I was a kid we didn't have that... isn't it great!" and then giving our kids e readers, mp3 players, ipod touches, gameboys (oh I'm sure that's outdated), a dvd player, tv in their room, personal computer and whatever else we could give that requires electricity.
Yesterday, besides the fact we watched WAY too much tv, my girls painted! and they loved it.
we read a book and enjoyed it! we played tag outside! and those are the things they remember... I'm going to do the unexpected and force my kids to do more activities away from the sound waves: beach, library, games, and dare I say: nature!
viva la revolution!
Tom won't let the boys go near the computer when the sun is shining! HA! As soon as they ask, he looks out the window and says, "No, go outside. It is a beautiful day!"
