This is What we've named our school!
You wonder why I'm writing you on the THIRD day of school... yah, that's how I'm feeling.
It's going ok, but we had a rough beginning (maybe it's cause I was late on my happy pill dose).
It started with Zoe asking me a week (or 5) in advance if we were going to get to ride the school bus. For some reason, it didn't soak in that she wasn't going to public school. And every day, her and Ada packed their backpacks for every adventure to the grocery store or the mailbox.
Then on day one Ella complained that we didn't get her new clothes for school... "Mom, could you atleast please DRESS like a school teacher"
So I dressed up and prepared to have everything go swimmingly.... right? Children sitting in their school best waiting silently ... anticipation dripping off their chubby little digits. Constantly, them saying, "please, mom ma'am, may I have another"! Well, I will say, they were excited to start... as Ada said, " I mean, school is starting with a party?" I think she was hoping for cupcakes and party music...
Here's how we began:
We did really well to start, but things went slow. Didn't help that Nyla cried and CRIED and CRRRIIEEDD. And then Ada dropped out, deciding that she didn't care if she learned anything as long as she got to do what she wanted. So I thought I would spring my first day suprise! What an awesome mom I am!!!
I was going to take them on the city bus! I mean, in the school of hard knocks, that's how we roll! So when we get there... we begin to sing the wheels on the bus... but someone uprooted the bus stop sign and we were driving around looking for it... why didn't I just drive the 2 blocks to the library: oh yah, I'm a GREAT MOM!!! Finally we decide we're going to walk to the valet at the hospital to ask where the bus stop is...
oh wait, we were parked right in front of it... and it stopped and took off while we were checking where it was... another one won't be coming by for 20-30 minutes... we got time to kill ... in the sun.
And then Ada had what I like to call... posession. She pulled out her "cell" and beat Zoe to the ground with it... why? well, she looked at me like she was going to make me angry...
so we had to leave the bus stop 5 seconds before it came to just drive to the library!
So party ? Maybe. Bus ride: not quite. But I am dressed like a teacher (in jeans).
And what time do you think school ended. Started at 8am. Ended at 4pm...
Day 2 was much better! Wednesday was Zoe telling her friends what she was learning without being prompted and both girls getting excited as they recited french at the dinner table and thier bible verse for the week to their dad! I am SO PUMPED... now if my brain could work and think outside the school realm and into my sewing and house, and crafts, and friends, and husband, and play!
check in on me soon...

Ali, are you a braver women than I was. I didn't even try to home school one child! May God grant you the strength, the wisdom and the patience you need!
